Planters and pots from Pottery Pots are designed to last for generations. To ensure the greatest possible enjoyment from your pot and the longest lifespan, it is important that it is properly looked after. When we select materials of the highest quality and apply authentic finishes, we create the basis for durable pots. However, to ensure that pots ages well and last it is important that they are properly looked after. Below you can find all relevant information and care instructions regarding the daily care, cleaning, and long-term maintenance of your Pottery Pots.

general care

Always use mild detergents - never use harsh, chemical detergents. A dry cloth or sponge and some water and soap will be enough.

To preserve the color of the materials, avoid direct sunlight whenever possible. Most products will show discoloration over time.

For pots placed outside, it is important to drill holes in the bottom, so the excess water can drain and the planter does not break during frost. Some of our pots already contain a drainage hole.

For our Essential collection, we have a (UV-resistant) lacquer pen that can easily restore minor damage.

The black Fiberstone planters (color code -01) from the Natural collection can be treated 2-4x per year with our special maintenance oil. This oil ensures that the black color is retained.

All of our products are handmade and made from natural materials which make each item unique and might slightly differ in color and/or surface variations.

Our planters are not suitable to be used as a vase or water basin.

Although all the efforts are made to equalize the products and make the measurements as accurate as possible, there may be minor deviations in the finish, dimensions, and weights

Almost all planters in our collection have had a treatment in which the bottom 25 centimeters of the planter have been treated with a coating. This coating ensures that this part is waterproof. However, when an item is placed indoors, we advise always checking whether the planter is waterproof and using a pot insert to be absolutely sure.

The products are handmade and transported, a small hairline crack can make the product no longer waterproof.

Store oil in a cool, dry place.

Clean the pot with a cloth and water before using the oil.

The pot must be completely dry before application.

Use gloves to avoid hand stains.

Rub the oil into the pot for 3-7 minutes until the coat is matched.

After application, the pot should dry for 15-30 minutes and then allow to air dry for several weeks.

best way to pot your plant

Fill the container for 1/3 with hydro granules. The hydro granules ensure good water management in the planter, so your plant can grow better.

Fill the remaining 2/3 with potting soil and place your plant in the planter.

Finally, you can choose to cover the soil with a decorative layer such as hydro grains, tree bark, or another ground cover.

Be very careful when moving the planter after it has been filled. The weight of hydro granules, soil, the plant, and the flowerpot itself can cause damage when moving.

Use a plastic pot insert in the planter. This will make the pots waterproof on the inside. And it prevents the pots from turning white.

For easy movement, even when they are filled, you can use special pot wheels which you can place underneath the pot.

Drill several holes in the bottom of the pot. Use an 8-10 mm drill bit. The number of holes depends on the size of the item. To prevent the drill from slipping, you can put duct tape on the place where you want to drill.

Tip: Cover the holes with gauze or old pot shards so they cannot get clogged.

Make sure that planters without feet are placed slightly from the ground. This can be achieved by placing loose pot feet or a saucer under the planter.

Pot feet will keep your plants healthy by limiting overwatering, shielding them from harmful frosts, and keeping insects and hungry gastropods at bay. Pot feet may also help protect your outdoor surfaces from rot and molds, such as decking.

If you do place the planter directly on the surface, it is recommended to drill the holes in the side of the planter, about 5 to 10 centimeters above the surface.
